Dr. Claude D Oglesby

 Dr. Claude D. Oglesby 90, of Moscow,TN (forerly of Memphis) passed away July 5, 2017 at Baptist Hospital Collierville following a brief illness.

Dr. Oglesby wa a well-known physician and eye surgeon in the Mid-South who was loved and respected by his many patients and friends. He was on the staff of the Baptist Hospital for nearly 50 years. During that time he served on the exedutive committee and later was appointed to the board of directors of the Baptist Foundation.Dr. Oglesby helped mant people through charity work he performed at glaucomaa clinics all over the Mid-South in conjunction with the Lions Club. In his medical practice no one was ever denied care even if they couldn't afford it.

He was a World War II veteran in the Merchant Marines and the Army Air Force.

A true Christian and a life long Presbyterian, Dr. Oglesby's soft spoken manner and his signature "jokes" made everyone around him feel comfortable. Dr. Oglesby was an outdoorsman that loved hunting and raising Angus cattle on the family's farm.

Born October 29, 1926 in Birmingham, AL, the son of the late Sabert Oglesby and Myrtle Dunn Oglesby, he was preceded in death by his two brothers and his step-mother, Hattie Oglesby.

He was married for 63 years to the love of his life, Earllyn Morrison Oglesby who passed away last year.

He is survived by one son, Claude D. Oglesby Jr. (Margie) and a grandson, Billy Walk.

A private ceremony of family and friends was held at Bethlehem Church and cemetery near Moscow, TN, Friday, July 7, 2017 with Bro. Tony Watkins and Bro. Bobby Arnold of Crowville, LA officiating. Arrangements were handled by the Holly Springs Funeral Home in Holly Springs, MS. Those honored to serve as pallbearers included, Billy Walk, Herbert Allen Jr. , Joe Allen, Tom Allen, Bo Allen, Barney Allen, Carl McClure Jr., Billy Mc Clure and Marty Mitchell.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Feeding Fayette c/o Nancy Leggett, Moscow, TN.
