John Randall Gilbreath

John Randall Gilbreath, 59, of Slayden, Mississippi succumbed to cancer in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his family on Friday, November 9, 2018.

John is preceded in death by his mother, Marie Sharp and his brother, David Gilbreath and survived by his father, John Sharp, brother Randall Gilbreath (Julia), sister Anita Rogene, wife Joy Barry Gilbreath, daughter Emily Gilbreath, sons John William (Dancy) Gilbreath, Chad (Stacey) Gilbreath, Brian Gilbreath, and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.  John was a loving father, husband, grandfather, son and friend to everyone.

John Gilbreath was known for his commitment to God and family first, being a proud Marine, a peacemaker and for his quirky wisdom.  One of his most recent quotes to his daughter, Emily was “I came into this world like a lightning bolt, naked, afraid, smiling and getting spanked on the bottom.  If I can get a chance to make my family smile and be happy, then hey I accomplished that. If I leave I want it to be a celebration of life.”

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Holly Springs Funeral Home (1160 Hwy 311 Holly Springs, MS  38635) at 1:00 p.m., followed by a service at 2:00 p.m.
