Kathryne Virginia Lewis

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7 After a lifetime of faithfulness and loving service, our favorite teacher, friend, wife and mother Kathryne Virginia Lewis stepped from this world into Heaven, receiving her reward from her Savior on November 6, 2016 after many years battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She passed with peace and grace with her family at her side. Predeceased by her loving husband Prentis in 1998, she leaves behind her adoring daughter, DiAnne Skillman, and son-in-law, Jeff who sacrificially cared for her in their home for the last 12 years; granddaughter, Sarah Preciado (Rick); grandson, Daniel Skillman (Lisa), and 6 great grandchildren. She was born on October 12, 1919 to Sterling Granville Walker and Jessie Eugenia Darling in Mineral Wells, MS. Six brothers followed her in birth and five preceded her in death. Robert Walker, 16 years younger and the baby of the family, is now the only remaining child. In 1935, she met the love of her life, Prentis Albert Lewis. They married on February 25, 1939 and were together until the day Prentis went to his Heavenly home. We know that he was there waiting for her to join him on that Sunday morning when she breathed her last. What a sweet reunion that must have been! The legacy she leaves behind is rich and full of love, laughter, faith and prayer. If you knew Mrs. Lewis, you knew she was a prayer warrior and was probably right then or had been sometime before praying for you! There was no prayer too big or small for God to handle, even if it was a prayer during her grandson's high school football game. She loved her family, she loved this community and she loved her Lord. Rejoice, will you, with her family that her faith has at last been rewarded for her 97 years of service on this earth. She would also want you to know the faith that she so fervently lived out, for you can have it as well. It is freely given, should you reach out and take it. "Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day - and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:8 A Visitation will be held Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 2-4pm at the Holly Springs Funeral Home. Services will be held Sunday, November 13, at 2:00pm at Carey Chapel Baptist Church with a burial following in the church cemetery.
