Martha H. McAlexander, 60, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Baptist Desoto in Southaven. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School, was chairman of the council on ministries, helped start the Mother's Day Out and Preschool programs and a longtime member of the choir and accomplished soloist. She was a supporter of the National Bird Dog Field Trial Championship at Ames Plantation in Grand Junction, Tenn. She was a teacher at Marshall Academy for over 20 years and a volunteer for numerous efforts throughout the community.
Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012 at First Methodist Church with the Rev. Doyle Mitchell and the Rev. Milton Whatley officiating. Internment is at Hillcrest Cemetery in Holly Springs. Holly Springs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby McAlexander of Holly Springs; Joey (Elise) McAlexander of Holly Springs and Preston McAlexander (Meridith) of Hernando, Jeff McAlexander of Holly Springs; sister, Jo Ann Fortson of Panama City, Fla.; and grandchildren, Bobby McAlexander, Emily Kate McAlexander, Eva McAlexander and Will McAlexander.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers are Manny Burch, Tom Pittman, Jaky Hurdle, Mike Hurdle, Paul Burch, Bob Pittman, Lanier Hurdle and Frank Hurdle.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. May 4 , 2012 at the funeral home.
