Ann Cocke Carpenter, 81, of Holly Springs, passed away on the morning of February 27, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones at her home. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on October 3, 1942, to Charles Powell Cocke and Mary Lewis Woodson Cocke. Mrs Carpenter, a 1960 graduate of Marshall County Agricultural High School, was an assistant cashier with Merchants and Farmers Bank in Holly Springs from May of 1960 until April of 2013. In addition, Ann was a Fifty Year Club Member with the Mississippi Bankers Association.
Mrs Carpenter is survived by a son, Charles Byrne Carpenter of Senatobia, and a twin sister, Virginia Lewis Cocke Mitchell of Holly Springs. She also leaves a granddaughter, Lily Grace Carpenter, and a grandson, Nicholas Lane Carpenter, and nieces and a nephew, Jane Ann Mitchell Autry, Andrea Mitchell Chrestman, Kelley Mitchell Autry, Maura Jane Autry McCool (Austin), and Konlee Jane Autry. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Joseph Whitley Cocke, and an infant sister, Katherine Cocke.
Services for Mrs Carpenter will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Holly Springs on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends and family on Thursday evening, February 29, from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at the church. Burial, following the funeral service, will be in Hill Crest Cemetery. The Holly Springs Funeral Home has charge. Pall bearers will be Shawn Clayton, Nicky Shelton, Bobby House, BB House, David Cooper, David Hill, Jim Robinson, and Harvey Payne.
