On Wednesday, July 15, 2026, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Janice McGaughy Roberson, passed away peacefully at Ashland Health and Rehab.
Born March 18, 1950 in Ripley Hospital, Jan was the daughter of Fred and Inez McGaughy. A
lifelong resident of the Abel's Store Community, Jan graduated from Ashland High School in 1968, continued her education with one year at Northwest Community College and three years at The University of Mississippi, earning a Business Administration Degree in 1972.
A woman whose life was defined by hard work, dedication, and integrity, she was employed
through the years as a case worker for the Mississippi Department of Welfare, a bookkeeper for the Benton County Superintendant of Education, and finally as the Accounts Receivable Clerk for TCI, Inc. from 1990 until she retired in December 2011.
Jan was a lifelong member of Liberty Methodist Church. She faithfully attended worship services and for many, many years was the church pianist.
The heart and soul of her family, she left a space that can never be filled. We have lost her love, her encouragement, and her unwavering support. All these things she so freely bestowed on others is being experienced in its fullness as she now rests in Heaven.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 54 years, Larry; her son Chad Roberson (Cheryl), grandchildren Chloe, Reed and Cameron Roberson; her daughter Amanda Russell, grandchildren Nathan and Lauren Russell; her brother Blake McGaughy (Donna); and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews who will greatly miss her.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all the Nurses and Staff of Ashland Health and Rehab for the care, love and support they provided for Jan, especially Rhonda, Trina, Sharon, Rex, Carrie, Cindy, Mallory and Amy; also to Arden Hospice Nurses, Heather, Kim, Mikayla, Melissa and Morgan.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026. Visitation will be held at
10:00 a.m. until service time. All services will be held in the chapel of the Holly Springs Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Liberty Methodist Cemetery, located at 2977 Holbrook Road, Ashland, Mississippi.
