Cheryl W. McCormick
Cheryl W. McCormick, 65, of Holly Springs, MS met her Lord and Savior on December 26, 2017 with her family gathered around her as she entered her heavenly home. Cheryl was greatly loved by her family, friends, business associates, DeSoto County softball and baseball players and fans, and her community. Faith and family were Cheryl’s life-and those that knew her say “Amen”! She had a huge heart for assisting others in need and enjoying the present moment on her journey. Her special interests were estate sales, antiques, grandchildren’s sporting events, interacting with her Indiana grandchildren, and family gatherings.
Cheryl’s journey began on June 14, 1952 and her life celebration will be held at First Baptist Church in Holly Springs on Saturday, December 30, 2017-Visitation will be held at 10:00 A.M, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 A.M., and Graveside Service and burial at 3:00 P.M. at Oakwood Cemetery in Winona, MS. Please join us to celebrate Cheryl’s life of loving, leading, and living as only she did-never complaining, giving much, desiring little, yet displaying the fierce fighter she was to the end for her family by believing and living the Bible verse Philippians 4:13.
She was a Realtor with Century 21 and Associates in Yuba City, CA and Olive Branch, MS, a Special Education Teaching Assistant/Coordinator at Winona High School in Winona, MS, and the WHS cheerleader sponsor. She inspired and motivated those she touched to always do their best, be their best, and give their best. Cheryl also enjoyed her earlier adult life in Fishers, IN as an EMT with the Fishers Fire Department, and also she and her husband’s hobby of rescuing wild animals along with their involvement in 4H for their daughters.
Cheryl’s beloved husband, Durwood, was her best friend on their 40-year marital journey. His love, devotion, and constant care was evident to all. She leaves two loving daughters, Beau Parsons (Shannon) of Southaven, MS, Tara Tate (Chris) of Unionville, IN and five dearly loved grandchildren: Abi, Ellie, Jack, Gracie, and Hugh. Also her Mother, Joan Carman of Noblesville, IN and her soul sisters Linda McCormick Felts (Bill) and Ginger McCormick Parks (Ray), all of Memphis, TN.
Cheryl leaves us with hope, encouragement, and peace of Bible scriptures Numbers 6:24-26. The family request donations to be made to the American Cancer Society or West Cancer Clinic in Memphis, TN.
