John Nathaniel Kelley, Sr., 89, died June 1, 2018 surrounded by family at the home of his daughter in Collierville, TN.

He was born in Somerville, TN on December 11, 1928 to the late Albert C. Kelley and Mary Teresa Gibson.  

He provided for his family by working as a homebuilder and construction superintendent building Holiday Inn’s across the United States.  After many years on the road traveling, he started his own company, John Kelley Concrete and Construction.

He served as a Deacon for many years at Colonial Baptist Church and Germantown Baptist Church.  In his later years, he was a member of the Somerville Baptist Church. John loved his Lord and his family and served both until the end.

He is survived by daughters, Teresa Bobbit (Rick) of Collierville, TN and Betsy Hylander (Billy) of La Grange, TN; brother, Billy Kelley of San Diego, CA; sister, Rhetta Vlink of Atwood, TN; grandchildren, Hillary Hamm (Chris), Kelley Branham (Tom), Amber Bobbitt, Josh Bobbitt (Emily), Wil Hylander (Kristen), and Magen Hylander; and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Helen Burch Kelley and son, John Kelley, Jr.

Services will be graveside in the La Grange City Cemetery on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 1:30pm with the Holly Springs Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
