R H Poole 83, affectionately known as Toby Poole passed away at his home in Byhalia, MS on 4/3/20.Toby served his country as a United States Army Paratrooper and was stationed in Germany. He shared many stories of his time in the service and life in Germany. Toby worked as an insurance agent for Commonwealth Insurance and & retired from there after many years of service. He loved the Lord and was a member of Garland United Methodist Church.Toby was a people person and never met a stranger. He had a down home personality that drew people to him.He was an avid woodworker and crafted beautiful intricate pieces such as music boxes, tables, picture frames and fun yard signs. Many friends and family are fortunate to have some of his work to cherish.Toby loved kites and spent many a day on the beaches of Destin & Gulf Shores flying his unique kites. It was a showstopper; beach goers would stop and admire them.He loved a celebration and his favorite place of all to celebrate was New Orleans. Many family trips were spent exploring New Orleans. A surprise 50th wedding Anniversary in New Orleans is a cherished & unforgettable memory.Toby loved his home affectionally known as “The Farm” he loved planting gardens, plants & flowers. He enjoyed hosting family and friends to cookouts, to celebrate a birthday, a graduation or just hang out and spend time together.
Toby was proceeded in death by his father Jessie Aubrey Poole, mother Mary Selma Bowling Poole, sister Geneva Poole Walker and brother Gene Poole.
Toby is survived by his wife Barbara of over 57 years; his daughters Cindy Poole Appling (Jamie); Lynda Poole Witherington. Three Grandchildren Lauren Appling Hanks (Zach), Brad Appling (Kathryn), Katy Witherington and one Great Grandchild James Cornelius Hanks and a host of nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at West TN Veterans Cemetery.
A Celebration of life will be held at a later date when current situations allow friends and family to
