Lyla Moore McAlexander, 62, of Holly Springs, passed away in Memphis, Tennessee, on August 9, 2024. The daughter of Dudley Rook Moore Jr and Frances Newsom Moore, she was born in Memphis, on November 30, 1960. Lyla was in marketing and advertisement sales and was a member of First Methodist Church in Holly Springs.
Lyla is survived by her husband of seventeen years, Doug McAlexander, three daughters, Georgia Vinzant Baker (Dave) of Savannah, Georgia, Maggie Vinzant of Chattanooga,Tennessee, and Stephanie Vinzant of Memphis,Tennessee, two step sons, Zack McAlexander (Jessie) of Olive Branch, Mississippi, and Zane McAlexander (Karen) of Hernando, Mississippi, and a step daughter, Zoe McAlexander of Covington, Louisiana. She also leaves a sister, Susan Moore Bonds (Bobby) of Byhalia, Mississippi, a brother, D Rook Moore III (Marie) of Little Rock, Arkansas, and six grandchildren, Charlie McAlexander, Henry McAlexander, Stevie McAlexander, Lizzie McAlexander, Kaitlyn Johnson, and Jeremiah Johnson, and her beloved dog, Tucker. Lyla was preceded in death by her parents, and by a sister, Ellen Moore Gammon.
Lyla was loved and admired by so many. She was known for her bright and sweet smile, her quick laugh, and her fun-loving attitude. Lyla enjoyed "visiting" and spending time with her family, with her precious grandchildren, and with her friends, She loved to fabric shop, especially when she was helping her girls decorate their homes. She was an avid lover of the Christmas season, delicious food, and spending time at the farm with Doug and Tucker. Her fighting spirit and her deep faith were admired by all who knew her.
Memorial services for Lyla will be held at the Byhalia Methodist Church on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends and family at a visitation at the church, beginning at 10:00 am, and continuing until service time. |
