William Lafayette Woods

William Lafayette Woods, 73, of Victoria, Mississippi, passed away on September 24, 2026, in Collierville, Tennessee. He was born June 1, 1953, in Holly Springs, Mississippi, to the late A.B. and Gladys Woods.
William was a proud Army veteran and retired truck driver. He was a hardworking, hands-on man who loved hunting—especially ducks—fishing, his dogs, and tinkering with anything he could take apart and hopefully put back together.
William was a man of many words, a jokester, unfiltered, hardheaded, protective, and deeply loving. He was never afraid to tell you exactly what he thought, and he certainly never seemed to run out of something to say. His stubbornness could test your patience, but his big heart was never in question. He loved his family and friends fiercely and would do anything to protect the people he loved.
His greatest pride was his family. He leaves behind his daughters, Aimee Smith (Scott), Kimberly Woods (Wade), and Lacie Toledo (Bryan); and his honorary daughter, Katie Davis (Mike). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Morgan Hardy (Brock), Weston Harris (Amber), Will Harris (Val), Averee Mae Frayser, Lucas Toledo, Aubrey Toledo, Kason Davis, and Kellen Davis; and his great-grandchildren, Pearson Harris, Reid Harris, Walker Harris, Maverick Hardy, and Marley Hardy.
William was preceded in death by his parents, A.B. and Gladys Woods; his siblings, Benny Woods and Cora Hale; his nephew, Jake Shoffner; and many other precious family members and friends.
His family will miss his stories, his jokes, his stubbornness, his unsolicited opinions, and all the little things that made him who he was. They will carry his memory, his lessons, and his love with them for generations to come.
A service honoring William’s life will be held September 29, 2026, at Holly Springs Funeral Home in Holly Springs, Mississippi. Visitation will be held from 12 until service time. The memorial service will begin at 3:00 PM.
Honorary Pallbearers are: Weston Harris, Williams Harris, Brock Hardy, Bryan Toledo, Jordy Shoffner, Lucas Toledo, Caleb Shoffner, Steven Shoffner, Brett Shoffner and Sean Lewis.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to an Alzheimer’s fund in William’s name.
