Marianne Dearman Rainer June 4, 1943 – September 28, 2026
Marianne Dearman Rainer, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and lifelong nurse, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on June 4, 1943, in York, Alabama, to Judge Wilbur Elisha Dearman and Mary Emma Turner Dearman, Marianne grew up with a strong sense of purpose and compassion. She attended Livingston University and Hinds Junior College, where she discovered her calling in nursing — a profession she cherished and one in which she found deep fulfillment. Across her long and meaningful career, Marianne cared for countless patients with unwavering dedication, skill, and kindness. She began her nursing work at Rankin County Hospital in Brandon, MS, and also spent time working in the Emergency Room at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. She later devoted approximately 25 years to Methodist LeBonheur North Hospital, serving first as an Emergency Room triage nurse and later in the Quality Department, focusing on stroke care and chart review. Marianne continued doing the work she loved until the age of 80, a testament to her commitment and passion for helping others.
Beyond her professional life, Marianne’s greatest joy was her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren and was happiest when surrounded by those she loved. She enjoyed home projects, antiques, and sewing, and she was a faithful member of Riveroaks Reformed Presbyterian Church in Germantown, TN.
Marianne was preceded in death by her parents and by her infant daughter, Judith Ann Rainer. She is survived by her children, Sandra Broom (Paul) and Dan Rainer (Amy); her grandchildren, Ashley Broom, Bobby Broom, Chapel Rainer, Clay Rainer, and Chase Rainer; and her sisters, Jean Anderson and Juanita “Nene” Rubira.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, October 4th, at 4 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery in Collierville, Tennessee.
