Patsy “Pat” Jo Smitherman
January 8, 1945 – December 28, 2025
Pat, 80, of Olive Branch, Mississippi, gained her heavenly reward on December 28, 2025. Born in Pontotoc County on January 8, 1945, Pat grew up in Ingomar, MS, where her roots of faith and family were planted deep.
In 1967, Pat moved to Memphis, TN with her beloved husband of 57 years, Bill Smitherman, to
begin a life built hard work and devotion. She worked tirelessly for over 20 years at Memphis
Furniture and later dedicated 29 years to the Flinn Clinic, serving faithfully until the very day of her passing. Pat was a shining example of perseverance and commitment, both in her career and in her family life. Pat’s greatest joy was her family. She adored every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her love was unwavering, and her presence brought warmth and comfort to all who knew her.
A devoted servant of the Lord, Pat lived her life in worship and service. For 30 years, she poured truth and love into countless children as a Sunday school teacher. She was a cherished member of Hope Chapel in Olive Branch, MS. Her whole life, she thrived on the love she had for her numerous church family members. Her faith continues to inspire those around her.
Pat is survived by her children: Angela Roberson (Jeff), Billy Smitherman (Tiffany), and Patrick
Smitherman (Rachel); her grandchildren: Alicia Archambeault (Michael), Cameron Roberson
(Melody), Dylan Owens (Emi), Christina, Mary, Connor, Leigha, Jaxon, Olivia, and Kylo Smitherman, Savannah and Madison Hollis; and her great-grandchildren: Hendrix and Jennings Archambeault, Reya and Grey Roberson, and Roy Owens. She also leaves behind her siblings, Faye Mays and Larry Young. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley Young and Frances Andrews; her siblings Blanche Tackett, Melvie Myrick, JW “Nubbie,” Ollie and Gene Vaughn, Barbara Kidd, and Jerry Young; her husband Bill Smitherman and her son, Billy Gene Smitherman Jr.
Pat’s life was a testament to faith, family, and love. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who
were blessed to know her. Visitation will be at Hope Chapel 8161 Germantown Rd. Olive Branch, MS 38654 on Saturday, January 3, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 12 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Shady Grove Baptist Church, Pontotoc County immediately after.
