Betty Jo Gurley Tuttle, 75, of Byhalia, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, January 12, 2026.
Betty was always so full of life and could always make you laugh. If you ever met her once, you would never forget her. She was feisty and boisterous in everything she did and never met a stranger. Betty loved her animals like family and brought joy to everyone around her.
She loved to sit on her porch and wave at everyone passing by on their way to the little town restaurant. Betty also enjoyed watching westerns, but one of the things that brought her the most joy was loving on people. Everyone who knew Betty had a funny story to tell about her- she was unforgettable ! We often had to warn family and friends before taking them to see her because you never knew what Betty might say or do.
She is survived by her four sisters: Louise Salter (Ralph), Suzie Gilliland, June Watson and Patricia Cole; two brothers: Phil Gurley and Curtis Jr. (Wanda); and Mary Lou Warren (Jarred),
who was like a daughter to her. Betty deeply loved all her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tim Tuttle; her parents, Dorothy and C.W. Gurley; and her brothers Curtis Gurley, Walter Gurley, and Marion Gurley.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at First
Baptist Church, 2555 Church Street, Byhalia, MS 38611.
A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 PM at the church.
Interment will take place in Byhalia Cemetery immediately following the service.
Betty will be remembered for her laughter, her love for family and friends, and the unforgettable spirit she shared with everyone she met.
