David Benjamin "Benny" Howell passed away peacefully and comfortably at home on Friday, January 30, 2026, after an extended illness. Benny was predeceased by his parents, Ardie and Curtis "Shag" Howell and all siblings except his beloved sister, Audrey Sicilia, who resides in Florida. 

 

Benny is survived by his wife of sixty years, Judy, and children - Sheri Jones (David), Shelley Ormon (MIchael) and Curt Howell. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Shelby, Dennis, Josh, Caleb, Seth, Reid, Sam, Cayden and Raelynn. 

 

As a licensed barber, Benny gave most of his grandchildren their first haircuts and enjoyed indulging them with sweet treats. A most beloved family tradition was receiving his infamous simple white envelope with a generous amount of cash enclosed on birthdays and at Christmas. His quiet presence will be sorely missed.

 

Visitation will be held from 2 until service time. The funeral will begin at 3:00 PM. All services will be held at the Holly Springs Funeral Home on Sunday, February 8, 2026. Burial will follow in the Chewalla Primitive Baptist Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Arc of NWMS, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving individuals with disabilities in Northwest Mississippi.
