Edna Virginia Childress Lewis

Mrs. Edna Virginia "Nanny" Childress Lewis, daughter of the late Roy and Addie Childress was born on June 29, 1938 in Marks, MS. and passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Baptist Hospital in New Albany, MS. She had nine siblings.

A loving mother, grandmother, great gramdmother, great great grandmother and homemaker. Edna was an excellent cook, she had a natural aptitude for fishing. Over the years she collected many family photographs, rooster home decorations, and the famous "Big Mouth Billy Bass" plaque that all the grandchildren enjoyed seeing when they visited her home. She enjoyed making Sunday morning breakfast for her family, camping at the lake, and fishing on the riverbank.

Her beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of her family and friends. Edna is survived by her husband Eugene Lewis, her son Gerald Edward Smith and his wife Dana of Hickory Flat, MS. and a son Charles Ricky Smith of Hickory Flat, MS. She had nineteen grandchildred, thirty five great grandchildren, and four great great grandchidren. She is also survived by her brother, Dave Loyd Childress and many loving relatives.

She is predeceased by her late daughter Debra Carol Jones, and her eight brothers and sisters,

The family will receive family and friends for visitation on Tuesday evening, March 14, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the Holly Springs Funeral Home in Holly Springs, MS. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held the following day on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Holly Springs Funeral home. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Baptist Cemetary in Hickory Flat, MS.
