In Loving Memory of Evelyn Watkins, December 20, 1946 - June 29, 2026
Evelyn Watkins, 79, of Holly Springs, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026.
Born on December 20, 1946, Evelyn dedicated her life to serving others as a special education
teacher at Holly Springs Primary School. Throughout her career, she touched the lives of countless students and their families with her patience, compassion, and unwavering commitment to helping every child reach their potential.
Family was the greatest joy of Evelyn's life. She treasured every moment with her children,
grandchildren, sisters, and loved ones. Her kindness, strength, and generous spirit will be
remembered by all who knew her.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bobby Watkins, her daughter, Callie Louise Lawson, her parents, Odell and Callie Johnson, her brothers, Ronnie Johnson and Paul
Johnson and her sister, Linda Fisher.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Teresa Huey (Tracey) of Cornersville, Mississippi, Mike Watkins ("50 Watt") of Waterford, Mississippi, and Brittany Gray (Aaron Detert) of Blue
Mountain, Mississippi.
She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Jackson Melton, Summar Gray, Brooke Tice, Tori Prine, Cater Detert, and Grayson Detert, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to
her life.
She is also survived by her loving sisters, Frances Westmoreland (Cliff), Mary Ann Day (Jerry)
Christine Martin (Doug) and Debbie Culver (Calvin), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members, dear friends, former students, and all who were blessed to
know her.
Funeral services celebrating Evelyn's life will be Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Holly Springs Funeral Home. Family will receive visitors at 12:00 P.M. until service starts at 2:00 P.M.
The service will be officiated by Brother Jonathan Childress and she will be laid to rest at
Hillcrest Cemetery. |
