Holly Springs Funeral Home

James Edward McAlexander

James Edward McAlexander, 67, died May 21 peacefully surrounded by family.  He had a large family and circle of friends. James had a big heart and a love for hunting, fishing and family. He worked many years as a roofer for John J. Campbell, but we all know his true passion was hunting and fishing.

James was the son of the late Sidney McAlexander Sr. and Effie Sue (Grizzard) McAlexander of Holly Springs.  He was the grandson of Felton and Mazie McAlexander and Caleb Franklin and Maude Grizzard, all who preceded him in death.

He was also preceded in death by his father and his niece, Elizabeth McAlexander.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brother Sidney McAlexander Jr, of Holly Springs, sister Sandra Beaver of Pelham, AL, sister Rita Youngblood (Danny), of Mantachie, nephews Wesley Beaver (Melinda), William Beaver and Preston McAlexander (Jill), nieces Crystal McAlexander, and Kimberly Beaver-Schragel (Bobby). He had two great nephews Emerson and Sawyer McAlexander and great niece Sydney Jo McAlexander.

Although his passing is sad, he would not want us to think of him as being gone forever, but that he was simply gone fishing.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026 in the chapel of the Holly Springs Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 24th, 2026 at the Red Banks Cemetery where he will be buried.
