Myrtice Skelton Newcomb, 92, of Ashland, passed away on August 31, 2022, at Methodist Hospital in Olive Branch. She was born on February 12, 1930, in Marshall County, Mississippi, to James David Skelton and Viola Williams Skelton. Mrs Newcomb was a baker with Dumplings Bakery. She always had delicious foods and candy ready, at home, in anticipation of visits from her family and friends. She was most well-loved, and everyone enjoyed spending time with her.
Mrs Newcomb is survived by a beloved niece and caregiver, Candice Brooke Walker, as well as several other nieces and nephews, and a brother, J W Skelton. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jimmy Leonard Canady and Charles Newcomb, her parents, and several brothers and sisters.
Services for Mrs Newcomb will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022, at 12:30 pm, in the Chapel of the Holly Springs Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:30 on Friday, and last until service time. Burial, following the service, will be at Forest Hill Midtown Cemetery in Memphis.
