Susan Marlene Stewart Tankersley, 81, of Waterford, passed away at her home on March 13, 2023. She was born on October 14, 1941, in Milan, Tennessee, to William Marlin Stewart Sr and Ruby Hartley Stewart. Mrs Tankersley was a retired educator and a former school bus driver.
Mrs Tankersley is survived by her husband, Julian Vinoy Tankersley Sr, sons Julian Vinoy Tankersley Jr and Daniel Wayne Tankersley, both of Memphis, two daughters, Anita Tankersley Gordon and Julia Gale Means (Thomas), both of Waterford, nineteen grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren. She also leaves a sister, Mary Ann Stewart Haas (Gerry) of McMinville, Tennessee, a sister in law, Mary Frances Stewart of Johnson City, Tennessee, and a brother in law, Randy Murchison Sr of Waterford. She was preceded in death by a son Rickey Minton Tankersley, a brother, William M Stewart Jr, and a sister, Patricia Lou Stewart Murchison.
Services for Mrs Tankersley will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 2:00 pm, in the Chapel of the Holly Springs Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening, March 15, from 4:00 until 7:00 pm. Burial, following the funeral service, will be at Hill Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
