DeWanna Jean "Dee" Hopson

DeWanna Jean "Dee" Hopson, 64, of Holly Springs, passed away from injuries sustained in an accident in Marshall County on Saturday, June 8, 2024.  She was born in New Albany, Mississippi, on October 3, 1959, to Josh Hopson and Nona Jean Adair Hopson Algee.  Ms Hopson, a graduate of Marshall Academy, was employed by the trucking industry for over forty years. Ms Hopson is survived by a sister, Malinda Walker (Randal) of Texarkana, Texas, a nephew, Alex Walker (Cassidy), and a great neice, Lizzie Walker.  She also leaves a very dear and lifelong friend, Denise Quillian.  She was preceded in death by both her parents.

Arrangements for Ms Hopson are incomplete at this time, though there will be a Celebration of Life later in the Fall.  The Holly Springs Funeral Home has charge.

The world will be less bright without Dee in it. We went to high school together, and I recall that she lived life to its fullest then, as well. To Dee for a life well lived.

Oh, I just got this tragic news about Dee's death. I am so sorry. I know she was so very dear to her family, particularly to her late mother, Jean Algee, and to her late stepfather Skeet Algee. I know that they were there to joyfully welcome her to Heaven and into God's loving presence. My sincere sympathy to Malinda and her family, and to her dear friend Denise. Dee leaves a big, loving, enthusiastic gap in this world.

Dee, there are no words, just emptiness. You were always larger than life to me. I know Grandmaw Adair, your mom and dad were sad and happy at the same time. The one memory that stands out to me, is when Grandmaw Adair was in the hospital and it was you, Tommy and me. I still have the picture. I am so sorry that I did not visit you, knowing now how close we lived. You have always been a lover and not a fighter, so those who have done you wrong, just know Karma know their names. I'm just so thankful and blessed we got to be so close. I love you cousin and will miss you terribly. Tell mom and Aunt Ann we miss them.

I worked with Miss Dee and was so sad to hear this news. She lighted up the room when she walked in our office to visit. She was a special person with a big heart and an exceptional truck driver. She will be missed here but no doubt she is riding her Harley in Heaven. Deepest sympathies to her family and friends.
