Dorothy Warren

Dorothy Hardy Warren passed away on December 31, 2017. She was born February 11, 1922 in Ecru, MS to John Dorman Hardy and Estelle Spain Hardy.  She was a retired Vice President and Loan Officer for the First State Bank of Holly Springs, MS having retired at age 80 after almost 50 years of service. In addition, she was a charter member of the Town and Country Garden Club and served as treasurer for many years.  In her later years, she and a group of close friends enjoyed the “Friday Night Group.”  She was an avid reader and was a member of Friends of Marshall County Library and the Kate Freeman Clark Art Museum.

 In addition, she had been a member of Christ Episcopal Church for 70 years.


She is survived by her daughter, Sally W. Permenter (Fred) of Ripley, MS. Her grandchildren Alexis W. Williams (Clay), of Ocean Springs, MS, Mary Cates Williams (Robert) of Oxford, MS, and Cooper W. Permenter (Laura Cate) of Oxford, MS.  In addition, she is survived by a daughter in law, Susan Holley and four great grandchildren, Warren Williams, Everitt Williams, Rob Williams and Dot Williams.  She was also looking forward to the birth of her fourth great grandchild,  George Cates Permenter, due in January, 2018. She is also survived by her sister, Marianne Schadrack of Memphis,TN, a brother David Hardy of Olive Branch, MS and numerous nieces and nephews.  


She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James W. Warren,  a son, James W. Warren, Jr., and a grandson, Robert Thomas Warren.  She was also preceded in death by her brother, John D.  Hardy.


The family also wishes to express their gratitude to her wonderful caregivers over the last 2 ½  years, Barbara (Pebbles) Terry, Fannie Jones, Kiesa Delbert, and Janice Brown.


Visitation will be on Thursday, January 4, at 1:00 pm at Christ Episcopal Church and the service will begin at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow the service at historic Hillcrest Cemetery.  


Honorary Pallbearers are C. B. McClatchy, William Charles Schadrack,  Frank M. Schadrack, David Logan Hardy, Dr. Edward Rather, Jr., Jim Buchanan, Jr., Billy Cupp, Jr., Jimmye  Dale Green, Jimmye Dale Green, Jr., and Andy Buchanan


In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made to Christ Episcopal Church P. O. Box  596
