John Warner Mansel

John Warner Mansel, 79, of Potts Camp, passed away at Baptist Hospital East on December 14, 2023.  He was born in Abbeville, Mississippi, on August 14, 1944, to Warner Greer Mansel and Ollie Vaughn Mansel. Mr Mansel was a truck driver, a member of Salem Baptist Church, and a United States Air Force veteran. He loved many, and was a friend to all!

Mr Mansel is survived by his wife of fifty four years, Butone Connell Mansel, and three daughters, Tonya Graham (Joe) of Potts Camp, Alicia Watts (Art) of Oxford, and Mendi Mayo of New Albany, nine grandchildren Ali Randolph (Chad), Briana McCarthy (Ben), Alexis Priest (Clint), Ana Brooke Watts (Chad Allon Stephens), Megan Cheatwood, Addison Mayo, Madalynne Watts, Owen Mayo, and Marlee Kate Mayo, and two great grandchildren, Brinkley McCarthy and John Warner Randolph.  He also leaves six sisters, Peggy Cook, Betty Alderson, Mary Neal, Rose Clark, Brenda Gregg, and Verona Bridges, all of Potts Camp. Mr Mansel was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Henry Mansel and William Mansel, a sister, Willie Margaret Mansel, and a daughter, Melissa Renee Mansel.  

Services for Mr Mansel will be held at Salem Baptist Church on Monday, December 18, 2023, at 11:00 am.  A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Holly Springs Funeral Home on Sunday evening, December 17, from 4:00 until 7:00 pm.  Burial, following the funeral services, will be in Salem Baptist Cemetery.  The Holly Springs Funeral Home has charge.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Salem Baptist Church, 111 North Salem Road, Potts Camp, Mississippi 38659.

I was so sad to hear of Papa John's passing
He was a good man,he and his family was good to me when my Daddy passed away
And Danny used to work with him we used to fed his horses.
We will miss him
And we are praying for his family
