Mrs, Mary Ellen Teel Godsey, 86, died March 17, 2020 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN. She was a devoted wife, loving Mother, kind Grandmother (Gimmaw), and gentle friend to all who knew her,
A graduate of Mt. Pleasent Elementry School, Slayden High School;, Northwest Junior College, and finally a BA in Accounting at Blue Mountain College, she taught second grade at Mt. Pleasent Christian Academy.
She enjoyed gardening and bird watching ( especially the Humming Birds), and played piano for the Glee Club at Northwest.
In her last years, her favotite pastime was sitting on her front porch in her wheelchair waving to her neighbors and visiting with those who would occasionally stpo by.
She is survived by her sons, Daniel Blair Godsey and Jessie Wilber Godsey Jr, : daughter Felicia Joy Godsey Tipton (Clayton) ; grandsons, Joshua Tipton and Wesley Tipton; granddaughter, Tessa Tipton; great granddaughter, Amber LeAnn Tipton; her church family and a multitude of relatives, friends, and neighbors she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jessie Wilber Godsey Sr.; an adored daughter, Audrey Gail Godsey; a sweet grandson, Jeremiah James Tipton; and cherished parents, Johnny W. Teel and Mary Anderson Teel.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Carey Chapel Baptist Church from 5-8 PM and a service at the church Friday, March 20 at 11:00 am, Burial will be in Carey Chapel Cemetery,
