Sammy Joe Farrar, 75, of Byhalia, gained his wings on January 23, 2022. Sammy was born on January 15, 1947, in Amory, Mississippi, to Sam and Floss Farrar of the Tilden community. He was a truck driver for 56 years. Sammy was of Baptist faith and belief, and loved life and driving his truck.
Sammy was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Haney Farrar, his parents, Sam and Floss Farrar, three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by a brother, Douglas Farrar (Jean) of Winter Haven, Florida, a sister, Sherry Farrar Murry (Tommy) of Bastrop, Louisiana, and a daughter, Tammy Nolan of Brewer. He also leaves a step daughter, Bonita Haney Conway of Holly Springs: two step sons, Mark Haney (Melissa) and Andy Haney (Rhonda), both of Waterford ten grandchildren, five step grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Services for Sammy will be held in the Chapel of the Holly Springs Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at 11:00 am. Brother Oscar and Brother Amos will officiate, and special music of songs that Sammy loved will be provided by Beverly Bean and Brother Oscar. Pall bearers will be Chase Haney, Jimmy Cases, Jesse Medlin, Brad Cooper, Joey Ray, and Jimmy McKinney. Burial, following the service will be in the Union Grove Cemetery in the Tilden community in Itawamba County.
There will be a visitation for friends and family on Tuesday evening, February 1, from 5:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. |
