Alvis Harris, 92, of Byhalia, passed away in New Albany on August 21, 2023. He was born on May 27, 1931, to Alvis K Harris and Rebeccca Thompson Harris. Mr Harris was a carpenter.
Mr Harris is survived by a daughter, JoAnn Riggs, a brother, Don Harris, and a sister, Sarah Moore. He also leaves four grandchildren, Paul, Jennifer, Adam, and Shelia; eight great grandchildren, Michael, Maggie, Danielle, Alyssa, Ty, Dylan, Rebecca, and Derek, and a great granddaughter, Aurora. Mr Harris was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Harper Harris, a daughter, Barbara Ann Grady, five brothers, Joe, Bud, Howard, Richard, and Earl, five sisters, Doris, Betty Jean, Mary Ellen, Mary and Marjorie, and his parents.
Services for Mr Harris will be held in the Chapel of the Holly Springs Funeral Home on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at 11:00 am. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening, August 23, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, and again at 10:30 am on Thursday, prior to funeral services. Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery at Slayden. |
