Jon began his career as a journeyman electrician, where he led several crews on commercial jobs. For the past 16 years he managed the family moving company (Able Moving Company). Throughout his tenure Jon continued his father’s tradition of employing young men in the “Second Chance Program.” Not only was he a positive role model for his crew, he was extremely well-respected and frequently shared the love of Christ with them and his customers. 

Jon gave his life to Christ at an early age and cherished his mother for celebrating his spiritual birthday every year until his mid forties.

At that time Jon and Krystal adopted their beautiful daughter—Providence. From the moment he laid eyes on her, Jon knew God had chosen him purposefully to be her daddy. The two of them shared a father-daughter bond immediately. They enjoyed swimming, boating, watching movies, and eating Mexican food and Sonic Blasts every Friday night. He would take Providence for her horse riding lessons, sleepovers at friend’s houses, and most importantly, Jon made certain that he and Krystal kept Providence in church. Jon’s number one priority was making sure she knew Jesus Christ. He modeled this as the leader of his home through daily scripture reading and praying every single night with his daughter.

Although there were many moments in life that he was proud of, one of the most important ones was watching Providence be baptized two weeks ago at Immanuel Baptist Church. Jon believed that the fruit of his labor and his Christ-like example did not return void for the cause of sharing the love of his Savior.

Jon was not only a devoted man of faith to his family, but also to his friends and neighbors. He was a man of strong Christian morals, integrity, character, humility, and generosity. He spent his life helping and serving others through his time and many talents; from giving money to those in need, giving a stray animal a place to stay, running a chainsaw for Mississippi Disaster Relief, caring for his aged parents, to helping a stranded stranger on the street—Jon was a man devoted to serving others and serving his Lord and Savior. 

Jon is survived by his wife, Krystal married 23 years, his daughter Providence (13) both of Hernando, his parents Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Engler of Eads, TN, his mother-in-law Bonnie McClure of Red Banks MS, extended family, Mr. and Mrs. Shane Jorgensen (Tammy) of Olive Branch, MS, Mr. and Mrs. Ethan Coleman (Chelsey, Elise, & Kate) of Byhalia, MS, Mr. and Mrs. Zack Jorgensen (Rachel) of Hernando, MS, and Noah Jorgensen of Olive Branch, MS as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, friends, and church family. Although Jon was an only child, there are four men he considered “close as a brother”: Todd Mason of Elizabeth, CO, Joe McMillan of Hernando, MS, Mike Clay of Oakland, TN, and Kevin McClure of Potts Camp, MS. In addition to all the people who loved him, he was also survived by his loyal stray dog—Tato— whom he rescued off of a moving job when the former tenants abandoned him.  

Proceeded in death were his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. F.P. Engler from Brinkley, AR and his maternal grandparents, Mr. Don Reed from Tupelo, MS and Ms. Gloria Reed from Memphis, TN.

As a lasting legacy, he would ask for each of you to model the words of Jesus: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your mind, and with all your strength”, as well as the Psalmist, by: “Being a father to the fatherless and a defender of widows” as God commands. 

Visitation will be held from 10 AM until service time. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. All services will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church (7423 New Craft Rd Olive Branch, Mississippi) on Saturday, July 25th, 2026.

He will be laid to rest at Carey Chapel Cemetery, Red Banks, MS.
