James Philip Karr Jr, 78, of Mt Pleasant, passed away at his home on September 9, 2024. He was born in Oxford, Mississippi, on May 14, 1946, to James Philip Karr and Margaret Lesley Karr. Mr Karr was a graduate of Mississippi State University, and was a cattleman and farmer. He was a former member of the Mississippi Cattleman's Association, and had played an active role in promoting youth livestock activities and 4-H in Marshall County for many years, as well as a supporter of the Marshall County Fairgrounds Association.
Mr Karr is survived by a brother, Joe Karr (Carol) of Oxford, and a sister, Lesley Karr Loftin of Mt Pleasant. He also leaves a niece, Sally Sigman of Mt Pleasant, a nephew, John L Loftin of Provincetown, Massachusetts, a great niece, Maggie Foley (Chandler), great great nephew and niece Chris and Ashby Foley, and two step-daughters, Jessica and Bekka Curl.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 1:00 pm, at Mt Pleasant Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Henry Boswell, Chandler Foley, Ted Bell, Kenny Sims, Larry Carpenter, and Paul Burch. Arnold Goode will officiate.
