Holly Springs Funeral Home

Katherine "Kathy" Tipler

Katherine “Kathy” Tipler of Holly Springs was taken from this life on April 7, 2023 at the age of 66. Katherine Jo Fleming was born December 18, 1956 in Memphis, TN to the late Ray and Jo Fleming. She moved to Holly Springs in 1965 with her family. She attended Marshall Academy. She spent her career in the banking business. She worked for First State Bank for many years before moving to Olive Branch. There she worked as a mortgage loan officer for Bancorpsouth. She worked for Trustmark Bank for 10 years, the first 5 years as a loan officer then a loan processor the last 5 years. She retired in 2022.

She married the late Terry Wells in 1974 and had two sons, Bryan and Bradley Wells. She was
promoted to Nana in 2001 when her first grandson, Chase, was born. She cherished this role more than any other. She married Sammie Tipler in 2004, and they made their home in Moscow, TN. She gained two daughters, Samantha Alberson and Heather Tipler, as well as two more grandchildren, Hunter and Savannah. The love she shared with Sammie and “the girls” was unconditional. Their bond grew stronger through the sickness and death of Sammie in 2020 and has only continued to grow. She was thrilled to have more grandchildren. She was promoted to great-Nana in 2016 and again in 2021 with the births of Brennan and Kingsly. She was very much looking forward to the birth of a third great-grandchild, Gunner Alberson who is due this month. She was especially close to her sister, Marcia. She moved back to Holly Springs in 2020 after Sammie’s death to be near her mother and sister. She and Marcia have always been close but were nearly inseparable these last few years. They shared a love of shopping, traveling, and visiting over a cup of coffee. She adored her 15-year-old shih tzu, Jack. He was always by her side.

Kathy was beloved by all who knew her. She had a love for shopping, especially clothes, shoes, and antiques. A common word to describe her was a “fashionista.” She owned at least 100 pairs of shoes. The highlight of the year was the annual “junking” trip on Labor Day weekend with her mother, her sister, and her niece. They travelled to multiple states looking for the best junk money could buy. Her Trustmark family described her as hardworking, dedicated, and “just an all-around great lady.” Kathy was an active member of the Holly Springs Church of Christ. She spent countless hours volunteering at the Ukraine World Missions warehouse.

A memorial was held at Holly Springs Church of Christ on April 15 th . A beautiful tribute was given by Kerry Reid, Todd Sanderson, and Doug Owen to a standing-room-only crowd. She was interred on April 22 at Ashland Cemetery beside her beloved Sammie.

She is survived by her sister Marcia Owens (Eddie) and nephew Jon Owens of Holly Springs; niece Chanda Miller (Bryan) of Guntown, MS; daughters Samantha Alberson of Columbia, MS and Heather Tipler (James) of Ashland; grandchildren, Chase Wells, Savannah Smith (Cody), and Hunter Alberson; great-grandchildren, Brennen Bracero and Kingsly Smith; sister-in-law Twila Wilson of Greenville, TN; great nieces Bryanna and Catie Miller; great nephew Zac Miller; uncles Boyce Crawford (Kathy) and J.C. Fleming (Linda); aunt Catherine Brashier; her beloved dog, Jack; and a multitude of cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Jo Fleming; son, Bradley Wells; and husband, Sammie Tipler.
