Mary Ann Kirk Hovey

Mary Ann Kirk Hovey, 89, of Garden Prairie, Illinois, passed away at her home on June 11, 2022.  She was born July 6, 1932,  to Guy Fant Kirk and Velora Modena West Kirk of Potts Camp.  Mrs Hovey was homemaker.

Mrs Hovey met the love of her life, William Warren Hovey Sr, and married him on May 20, 1949.  They lived in many places during their marriage, including Mississippi, Georgia, California, Michigan , Florida and Tennesee. Bill and Mary Ann raised four children, and after her husband passed away, she moved to Illinois with her daughter and son inlaw.  Mary Ann enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, crafting, and planning socials for her church. 
She taught sunday school, VBS, planned fellowships for seniors in the church, and cared for widows in the church.  
 
Mrs Hovey is survived by her children, William Hovey Jr. ( Bobbie), Cherie Cobb (Rick) , Dawn Mitchell (Keith), and Melissa Hovey.  She also leaves her twelve grandchildren,  Alanna Hovey, Janelle Hovey, Joel Mitchell (Rachel), Rachelle Mitchell (John), Sarah Morin (Dale), Rebekah Tisdale (Jesse), Hannah Swanson (Terrence), Deborah Mordt (Christopher Jon), Jonathan Mitchell, Abigail Mitchell, James Mitchell, Michael Mitchell; and seventeen Great Grandchildren, Christopher Quarburg, Cameron Quarburg, Brianna Sanabria (Jason), Braden Hovey ( Roberta), Brooke Squire, Billy Squire, Alena Mitchell, Malachi Mitchell, River Lingle, Shiloh Lingle, Tripp Morin, Elizabeth Morin, Joshua Morin, Stephanie Morin, McKayla Tisdale, McKenna Tisdale, Leia Mordt, and two Great Great Grandchildren: Trenton Hovey and Delaney Hovey. in addition, she leaves her siblings,  Larry Kirk (Lanette )  Sue Gaines (Maurice deceased), and Naomi Mills (Richard) 
 
Mrs Hovey was preceded in death by her parents, Guy Kirk and Velora Kirk, her sister, Dorothy Whitfield, her sisters inlaw, Linda Kirk, Sally Jones, and brothers inlaw, Russell Young, Maurice Gaines, and Harvey Whitfield.

Services for Mrs Hovey will be held in the Chapel of the Holly Springs Funeral Home on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at 11:00 am.  A visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:00 am, and last until service time.  Burial will be at the Cornersville Cemetery.
