Our beloved Nina Catherine (Stockard) Rhea, known as Nonnie to her family, 78, of Coldwater, MS, passed away on Sunday November 28th, 2021. Nina was born on December 5th, 1942 to Woodrow and Eva Stockard in Memphis, TN. After Nina graduated from Lowry Private School in 1959, she went on to study at Miller Hopkins Business School and Memphis State.
In 1963, Nina met Ronald in Memphis, TN. They were married on August 15,1964. Ronald and Nina went on to have three children, Charles(Chuck) Rhea, Peter Rhea Sr., and Taressia Shirley. Their ministry led them across the country including upstate New York, Michigan, and then back home to Memphis, TN and the surrounding area.
There is nothing Nina loved more than her family. She was thrilled to be helping plan her eldest grandson’s wedding, looking forward to the addition of three great-grandchildren, and the upcoming highschool graduation of her youngest grandson. We know that she will be smiling down on all of us as we continue through life in her absence.
Nina is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Reverend Ronald Rhea, her father Woodrow Stockard, her mother Eva Stockard, and her brother, Michael Stockard. She is survived by her children Charles and Jennifer Rhea, Peter and Shirral Rhea, and John and Taressia Shirley, her sister and life-long friend Nancy Calhoun, her nieces and nephews Jeff and Amy Rodgers and Kevin and Melanie Rehg her grandchildren Chaz and Emily Kemp, Ashley Rhea, Aaron Simpson, Peter Rhea Jr., Copeland Rhea, Micah and Eva Smith, Landon Rhea, Catherine Simpson, and Walker Rhea, her great-granddaughter Rori Smith, her great-niece Alexis White and her great-nephew Micheal Rodgers and her loving extended family.
Services will be held at Holly Springs Funeral Home at 1160 MS-311, Holly Springs, MS 38635, on Sunday, December 5th. A visitation will be held from 12pm-2pm, with services to follow at 2pm.
