Roger Dale Lacy

Roger Dale Lacy, 70, of Hickory Flat, MS passed away September 26, 2020 after a short illness of pancreatic cancer.

He was a member of Hickory Flat First Baptist Church. He served as Sunday School Superintendent and Assistant Sunday school teacher. He helped with the youth, he helped bring back the brotherhood group and was active for several years. He was Vice President and President of the Hickory Flat Day Care in the 80s. He was an active member of the Hickory Flat Volunteer Fire Department until his retirement. He served as Captain, Chief, Asst. Chief, Secretary, Treasure and team leader for over 25 years. He worked at the Mississippi Department of Transportation project office for 34 years. Roger served as a Senior Certified Technical Engineer, and he retired after a stroke.

Roger was a master pool player, he enjoyed CB radios, ball games, motorcycles, racing cars in his younger day, playing cards with friends and working on PawPaw's old truck. He enjoyed his family and grandkids when they were all together. Roger was a religious man, he was easy to talk to, could explain anything in the Bible to anyone. He loved and believed the Lord.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda Lacy, of 50 years, two daughters, Sylenda Janes (Whit) and Danielle Stagg (David), five grandchildren, Wesley and Will Janes, and Madison, Ella and Kaden Stagg. Two brothers, Paul and Johnny Lacy, two sisters, Ann Howell and Pam Carneal.

He is proceded in death by his mother and father, Ella and Earnest Lacy, brothers, Joe Nunnery, Ronnie Lacy, and sisters Elaine Snipes, Wanda Holt and Earnestine Lacy.

Visitation will be held at Hickory Flat First Baptist Church on September 29, 5:00 - 8:00 and September 30, at 12:00. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 30 at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in McKay Cemetery.

Mrs. Glenda, Sylenda and Danielle, I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Roger was a sweet man. I remember my Daddy thought the world of Mr.Roger and enjoyed talking to him on the CB radio. He will be greatly missed. You will all be in my prayers.
