Ruby Churchill

Ruby Potter Churchill, 92, of Potts Camp, passed away, surrounded by her family at Magnolia Place on October 24, 2022.  She was born in Marshall County on December 5, 1929, to Henry Melvin Potter and Lillie Free Potter.  Mrs Churchill was the former owner of Churchill Grocery in Bethlehem, and a member of Salem Baptist Church. She loved gardening and working in the yard with her flowers.  She also enjoyed hunting and fishing, and taught both of her sons to hunt.  

Mrs Churchill is survived by two sons, Doyle Churchill (Mary Anne) of Enid, and Larry Churchill (Janet) of Olive Branch, and three daughters, Betty Whaley (Rodney) of Potts Camp, Linda Whitehead of Ecru, and Barbara McAlexander (Wade) of Water Valley.  She also leaves nine grandchildren, Doyle Churchill Jr, Carrie Churchill, David Churchill, Amanda Smith, Stacy Morrison, Lori Shaw, Jeremy Churchill, Brandon Hogue, and Ben Hogue; twelve great grandchildren, Daphney Holmes, Courtney Churchill, Jack and Brennan Smith, John Grey and Natalie Morrison, Addie, Vivi Kyle, and Kate Russell Shaw, and Landon, Grant, and Aleigha Hogue, and one great great grand child, Brooklyn Holmes. She also several neices and nephews. Mrs Churchill was preceded in death by her husband, RG "Bud" Churchill, and a grandson, Josh Churchill.

Services for Mrs Churchill will be held in the Chapel of the Holly Springs Funeral Home on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at 2:00 pm.  A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening, October 26, from 5:00 until 8:00 pm, at the funeral home.  Burial, following the service, will be at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Potts Camp.
