Carolyn Ray Rainey

Carolyn Ray Rainey, 82, passed away peacefully after a long illness on January 22, 2022 at Union County Health and Rehab.  She was born on August 10, 1939, to the late O.D. and Ruby Bingham.  A graduate of Ashland High School and a member of Potts Camp Baptist Church, she enjoyed listening to Christian music, camping, horse riding activities, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.  She often times donated her services as a loving and devoted taxi driver for her grandchildren.  She was married to Harold  Rainey for 62 years, and was a lifelong resident of Hickory Flat.

Mrs Rainey was preceded in death by her twin brother, Jimmy Bingham, her sister, Mary Jo Samples, and a nephew Robbie Bingham.  Her survivors include her husband, Harold Rainey, a son, Eddie Rainey (Traci) of Booneville, two daughters, Lesia Carnell (Chris) of Hickory Flat, Cheryl Cox (Bobby) of Hickory Flat, ten grandchildren, Dalton Rainey, Shelby Hawkins (Clint), Tyler Reed (Taylor), Trey Reed (Hope), Connor Moore, Kayla Moore, Noah Carnell, Zach Carnell (Jessie), Bobby Cox, and Marcie Cox.  She also leaves five great grandchildren.

Arrangements for Mrs Rainey will include a visitation at the Holly Springs Funeral Home on Monday, January 24, 2022, from 5:00 until 8:00 pm, and funeral services on Tuesday, January 25, at 2:00 pm. Brother Randy Hamilton will officiate.  Burial will be concluded in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
