Charles "Charlie" Wayne Clifton, 78, left this world on May 22nd, 2026. He peacefully passed in his sleep.
Charlie, the son of the late Mr. Marshall Halcolm Clifton and Mrs. Sarah Rebecca "Becky" Clayton was born on October 3rd, 1947 in Holly Springs, Mississippi. He grew up in Potts Camp in a loving home with his parents along with his three siblings: Henry Clifton, Ray Clifton, and Estelle McClure.
In 1966, he married his high school sweetheart, Glenda Cook. The two were blessed with 60 years of marriage and two precious children to show for it.
Charlie was known as "Jaybird" throughout his trucking career which he enjoyed for the majority of his life.
Nothing brought more joy than his family. He was a devoted father and grandfather. His love for his family was unmatched and his presence will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Glenda Cook Clifton, daughter, Belinda Bridges, son, Michael Clifton (Amanda); 6 grandchildren: Courtney Johnson, Chasity Sanders (Shane), Cole Clifton (Katie), Chanler Clifton, Cathalene "Allie" Clifton, Kendell Clifton, and 4 great-grandchildren: Connor Hendricks, Charlee Clifton, Corbett "CJ" Ardis, and Silas Clifton. He is also survived by his three siblings.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until service time. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM. All services will be held in the chapel of the Holly Springs Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 25th, 2026. Burial will follow in the Benton county Pine Grove Baptist Cemetery.
