
Helen Marie Hurdle Mason, 80, of Hickory Flat, Mississippi formally of Holly Springs, Ms, passed away on June 24, 2026, at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. Helen was born to the late Mr. Horace GIles Hurdle and Mrs. Viola Wilson Hurdle on January 17, 1946, in Hudsonville, Mississippi. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Holly Springs for many years and retired from her teaching career in 2012 from the Marshall County, MS School System. Her teaching career included schools in the Marshall County School System, Marshall Academy, Gray Academy, and Ashland High School in her earlier career.
Mrs. Mason is survived by her daughter: Cammie Mason Buntyn (Justin) of Hickory Flat, as well as a grandson, Caleb James Clifton also of Hickory Flat. She also leaves behind two step-grandsons , Zachary and Hunter Buntyn of Coffeeville, MS and a step-great granddaughter, Delta Mae Buntyn of Coffeeville, MS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. James Samuel Mason as well as her parents, two brothers, James Edwin Hurdle and Robert Harold Hurdle, both Holly Springs and one sister Bonnie Hurdle Bynum of Searcy Arkansas.
Mrs. Mason lived most of her life in Marshall County, MS including the areas of Hudsonville, Slayden and Holly Springs.
She was a member of the Wings Sunday School Class of FBC, Holly Springs, Pilot Club of Holly Springs, Blue Mountain College Alumni and MAGC (Mississippi Association for Gifted Children.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 26th, 2026, from 5 until 8 PM. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 27th, 2026, at 11:00 AM. All services will be held in the chapel of the Holly Springs Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery where a graveside service will be held. Her kindness and spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
Bro. Joe Lusby will be officiating the service. Pallbearers will be: Vance Tatum, Drew Tatum, Art Tatum, Robb Hurdle, Scott Mason, Matthew Robinson, Greg Allen, and Jason Wilson. Honorary Pallbearers are: Kenley Burton, Bridgette Stepp, Chasity Robinson, Avery Robinson, and Emma Burton
