Lonnie Bolden of Holly Springs, MS passed from this life on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the age of 86. He was born to Jeston (Dude) and Mary Magelene (Mag) Bolden on June 29, 1931, in Moscow, TN.
During his life on this earth, he served in the United States Army, Marshall County Constable, farmer and beef cattle producer until his retirement in 1986. In his active years, Mr. Bolden enjoyed bird hunting, fishing, raising cattle and supporting his children in their sports, rodeos and horse shows.
Mr Bolden was a member of First Baptist Church of Potts Camp, MS. He was active in the Mississippi Farm Bureau Association where he served for 16 years on the State Board and was president of the County Bureau for several years. He served as County Election Commissioner for several years as well.
Mr. Bolden is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Wilma Burchette Bolden; five children: Leslie (Susan) Bolden of Conway, AR, Gloria (Jimmy) Fortner of Ashland, MS, Roger (Lisa) Bolden of Holly Springs, MS, Daniel Bolden of Holly Springs, MS, and Amy (Mark) McMullen of Heber Springs, AR; eight grandchidren: Brian (Kathy) Bolden, Kerri (Jerrid) Pearce, Rhagan Hopper, Karlie Bolden, Mandy (Nathan) Newton, Hunter Bolden, Chalet' (Clay) Gustafson, and Dr. Wesley McMullen; eight great grandchildren: Morgan Mitchell, Jerrit Pearce, Lilli Pearce, Tanner Newton, Bolden Newton, Kimsey Newton, Haley Scoggins and Jared Bolden; five great great grandchildren: Emma, Zaiden and Reece Bolden, Brooklyn and Briyen Mitchell: siblings Ransom (Judy) Bolden of Ashland, MS, Dot (Herbert) Allen of Moscow, TN, Betty Carpenter, Independence, MS, Corrine (Lloyd) Bloor of Moscow, TN and Diane (Bill) Marshall of Memphis, TN.
Mr. Bolden was preceded in death by his parents, brother John Frank Bolden, nephew Timmy Bolden and great grandson, Taylor Bolden.
Services will be held Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 12:00 noon at the Potts Camp Baptist Church. There will be a visitation at the church at 11:00 am on Wednesday, as well as Tuesday eveniing April 10, from 5:00 - 9:00 pm. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery
