Ronald Graden West

Ronald Graden West, 85, of Ashland, Mississippi, met his Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ and went to his heavenly home on Tuesday evening, May 14 , 2024 at
Tippah County Hospital in Ripley, Mississippi.

Ronald, the husband and soulmate of the late Idlett Daniel West, married on June
20, 1969. They were married for 49 years and had a wonderful, loving Christian
marriage. Mr. West was born on November 15,1938, in Benton County Mississippi,
son of the late William Granville West, Sr and Eva Louise Hudspeth. He was a
graduate of Ashland High School. He also served the great country of the United
States of America in the US Army. After serving in the US Army, he later attended
Memphis State University where he received his business degree. Mr. West was
an accountant In Memphis, Tennessee for several years, before moving back
home to Benton County, Mississippi where he ran the family store near Ashland
for many years. He was a member of Ashland Baptist Church where he and his
wife attended and very active for many years.

Mr. West enjoyed his church, attending local basketball games, and cheering
them on. He was an avid gardener, when he was in the garden is the time, he
spent time with Jesus. He loved Ole Miss sports, watching the Chicago White Sox,
Memphis Grizzlies, and many other sport teams. He enjoyed watching sports in
person or watching them on tv. He enjoyed spending lots of valuable time with
family and friends, talking with others, and was a friend to everyone he met. He
was an always willing to help anyone in need.

He is survived a host of very special nephews, nieces, and many dear friends who
will cherish the memories made over the years. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by his brothers William Granville “W.G” West, Jr, Hugh Jackson
West, and one sister Sara Frances West Nolen, and a nephew Mark Steven West, and a niece, Barbara West.

A celebration of life will be held at Ashland Baptist Church in Ashland, MS, on
Sunday, May 19, 2024. A visitation will begin at the Church at 1:00, and last until service time at 2:00 pm, and the service honoring the life of Mr. Ronald West will begin at 2:00.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are: Danny Eytchison, David Chute, Dennis
Chute, Michael Alberson, David West, and William West, III. His body will lay in its
final resting place in the Ashland City Cemetery.  The Holly Springs Funeral Home has charge.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Ashland
Baptist Church at 173 Church Avenue, Ashland, MS, 38603, or the American Heart
Association.
