Susie Imogene Clayton Hill

Susie Imogene Clayton Hill, 69, of Potts Camp, passed away at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo after a brief illness. She was born in New Albany, Mississippi, to Fred Bennie Clayton, Sr. and Jimmie Reed Clayton.  Susie was the Marshall County Comptroller.  She treasured her time working for the community at the Marshall County School District as well as her many years playing piano at her local church communities: Bethany Baptist and New Hope Baptist.  Susie wore many hats in her life, most important of which were “Muddie” to her grandchildren and pastor’s wife to her church families.  She was well known for her compassion for others, as evidenced by her bread making for all who were in need or want.  Her quick smile and quicker wit will be missed by all who knew her.

The widow of Donny Hill, Susie leaves a son Trey Hill (Nicole) of Endville, a daughter Tess Huwe (Jon) of Tupelo; a grandson, Bryce Hill, and a granddaughter, Susanna Huwe; a brother, Joe Reed Clayton (Anita) of Potts Camp.  She also leaves a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Bennie Clayton, Sr. and Jimmie Reed Clayton; her beloved husband, Donny Hill; and her brother, Fred Bennie Clayton, Jr.

Services for Susie will be helon Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 2:00 pm, in the Chapel of the Holly Springs Funeral Home.  A visitation for family and friends will begin at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, October 22, also at the funeral home.  Burial, following the services will be in Bethany Cemetery.

I met Susie in 1973, shortly after I started working in Wurlitzer's office. She was always helpful and a good friend, and after Wurlitzer closed, we stayed in touch as neighbors. I will surely miss our conversations and her presence, and I pray comfort and strength for her family and other friends.
