Armando “Mundy” Quinn, 88, of Germantown, TN passed away on July 31, 2022. Armando was born on September 28, 1933, in El Paso, Texas, to Thomas Lee and Christina Oliver Quinn.
Armando is survived by his wife Lorene “Chita” Quinn and children: Mark Quinn, Jacqueline Quinn, Katherine Quinn, Mundy Quinn Sr., and daughter-in-law Kellie Quinn, and grandchildren: Brock Quinn, Mark McEachean, Turner Smith, Joshua Metcalf, Nicholas Metcalf, Kirby Winstead, Mundy Quinn Jr., Kateyann Winstead, Juliette Rose, Savanna Smith, Breanna Miller and 17 Great-grand Children.
Armando was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Patrick Quinn, Thomas Quinn, Stella Carbatal, and George Quinn.
At the age of 19 Armando graduated from Cathedral High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After returning home, in 1956, Armando joined the El Paso Police Department. During 9 years serving as a police officer, he became a Criminal Investigator and obtained a Bachelor’s of Arts in Business with a minor in Psychology from Texas Western College.
In 1964, Armando was recruited to join the United States Secret Service where he served for 23 years, protecting 7 United States Presidential Administrations, before retiring in 1987. He then became the Director of Safety and Security for the Memphis Regional Army Depot Facility, retiring from there after 10 years of service. In 1997, he became the Director of Security at the Memphis Peabody Hotel before permanently retiring in 2005.
Armando was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and an avid supporter of the University of Notre Dame. Married to his love, Lorene, for 66 years, Armando was able to spend his life passionately serving and protecting others. Lorene’s faithful dedication to caring for their children and grandchildren made that possible.
Later in life, Armando was renamed as the beloved “Pa”, or as the self proclaimed “The Panther”. He was extremely devoted to his grandchildren, where he rarely missed the opportunity to attend any event or activity they were involved in.
On August 10, 2022, the family will have a private viewing at the Holly Springs Funeral Home. After the viewing, all friends are invited to join the family for the interment at the West Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene, Germantown, TN at approximately 10:00 am.
