Holly Springs Funeral Home

Benjamin Glen King

Benjamin Glen King (42), loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on April 12, 2022.  Ben was born to Barney and Betty King on August 12, 1979, and lived his whole life in North Mississippi, a place he dearly loved. He graduated from Hickory Flat School in 1997.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents Morris and Mary Frances Moody, and Dallas and Ilene King.

Ben had been employed by Southeastern Freight Lines since 2014 and absolutely loved everything about the career he built there. He thrived on the fast-pace of the job and loved the relationships he built with his co-workers, the drivers, and his customers.  Ben was a country boy to his soul. Much of his life revolved around everything outdoors from all things hunting and fishing to bush-crafting and four-wheeling. The muddier he could get the better! He took great pride in mastering many primitive skills, handcrafting amazing tools like bows and knives, and making one-of-a-kind leather goods.

Everyone who knew Ben, knew he was just a big kid at heart, so if you couldn’t find him at work or outdoors, he might be playing Nintendo with his daughter or building Legos with his nephews. He was always ready for a laugh and a good time and loved sharing both of those with everyone he encountered.

He was certainly proudest of his daughter Dallas. She was his world. He encouraged her creative talents, helped to grow her love of sports, and taught her to have the type of compassion he showed to others.

He leaves behind his loving wife Karen of eight years; precious daughter Dallas; parents-Barney and Betty; his brother Bob (Michelle); nephews Peyton and Evan; and a special aunt, Jamie; along with a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins. Everywhere Ben went, he made friends, many of whom became like family to him. These people are also left behind to grieve this loss.
Ben was a man who believed in a loving, forgiving Savior; and while Ben never claimed to be a perfect man, he served a great God.

Both the visitation and funeral will be held at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Hickory Flat with the visitation taking place on Friday, April 15th from 5-8, and the funeral on Saturday, April 16th at 11 AM.  Pallbearers will be Jon Anderson, Nicky King, Justin Whaley, Daniel Whaley, Andy Jordan, Michael Autry, John David Lawson, Blake Chism, and Joey Wait.

In lieu of flowers, a special savings account has been established for his precious Dallas Elizabeth. Deposits can be made at any branch of the Bank of Holly Springs or mailed to PO Box 367, Potts Camp, MS 38659.

Big bro, I'm at a loss right now... The things I failed to thank you for, are so many of the things that helped shape my life in ways I couldn't see or even fathom at the time. A youngster who grew up looking up to the older guys, including yourself, Heath, and Big John, I was privy to a many-a times u took it upon yourself to go that extra like in order to do the right thing and most of the time, the funny thing as well. I was always the dumb proud one to be absolutely elated whenever you called my number for the next prank to get a laugh out of the bunch or just simply draw proper attention for our next "hey watch this moment" lol. More than one way or two or three are the many in which you took time out of your life to show me more about things I was interested in. If I ever become a great Bowman, it will be only because of the time you took, and the effort you put in to show me how to let it fly for the bullseye. I was always grateful for many fun times you included me in when you knew from the get-go I'd be the one you had to pull out of the mud hole or tote to the truck lol. I'll never forget the night I met sis for the first time. Poor Karen, she came to Potts camp expecting anything but hearing the wrath of Elaine on the first get-go. Lol. I'll tell you what though, it's been more than one time Mom has told me how grateful she was for the friends I had. I appreciate every conversation we ever had a little bit more today and I will cherish every memory we ever made a little bit more from here on. I just love you man, and I'm Just beside myself that I wont be able to bid you the farewell you're worthy of. Cuz I'm here to tell you, if they ain't toting that casket on a motorized vehicle that's riding on outlaws, then I ain't sure who made the plans. Lol. So much about living that four-wheel drive life as well as money I've spent, I owe to you. Lol. But hey that's all right, one thing I figured out quick when I got grown was great memories and greater friends are absolutely priceless. Four wide hammer down brother. Have em trails good when we get there. Ain't no sense in you not doing that at least. I love you partner.

We pray that you can feel an abundance of love from many directions as those of us who love your family are sending to you. Beyond what we can do, may our God wrap you in the comfort that only He can give. Find the song that you can play over and over in your heart that eases your pain. I feel assured that you will keep the memories of your Ben that make you smile again close as you walk ahead on life's journey each day. We are so very sorry and send our loving hugs and sympathy to each of you.
