Billy Jackson Taylor, age 90, of Ashland, Mississippi, passed away on October 5, 2025. He was born on September 3, 1935, to the late Henry Jackson Taylor and Mattie Rogers Taylor.
Billy devoted much of his life to serving his community. He was first elected Justice of the Peace in 1959, and later served as Supervisor of District One for two terms. He was also elected Mayor of Ashland four times, and served as Alderman for the Town of Ashland for three terms. In addition to his public service, Billy served on the board for UCAC Headstart and the North Mississippi Primary Health Care Board, from 1980 until 2025.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and all of his siblings. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish his memory. Billy will be remembered for his lifelong dedication to his hometown, his leadership, and his love for family and community.
Services for Billy will be held in the Chapel of the Holly Springs Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 2:00 pm. A visitation for family and friends will begin at 1:00 pm, and continue until service time. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Roger Elliott, Bobby Huddleston, Freeman Duncan, Jonathan Riley, Bill Stone, and Bill Renick. |
