Donald Flake Farmer

Flake Farmer, 76, passed away at his home on September 17, 2020.  Flake was born October 2, 1943, in Yalobusha County, MS, to Reed Vaughn Farmer, Sr. and Grace Adams Farmer.  He was a graduate of Coffeeville High School and attended Wood Junior College before serving 4 years in the Navy.
 
Flake and his wife Carol owned Ashland Discount Outlet.  Flake was instrumental in forming the Snow Lake Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Fire Chief for 42 years.  He also served as Police Chief for the Town of Snow Lake.  Flake enjoyed serving his community and stood ready to help anyone in need.
 
Flake is survived by his wife of 30 years, Carol Farmer, of Ashland, MS; brother, Joe Farmer (Jean) of Coffeeville, MS; step-daughter, Mandy McDaniel (Jason) and their son Dalton, of New Albany, MS; and two step-children from a previous marriage, Joan Kuykendall (Kenneth) of Thaxton, MS, and Patrick Simpson (Kim) of Snow Lake, MS and their children.  He is also survived by two special little girls, Anna Katherine Graves and Katie Lynes.  Flake was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Reed Farmer, Jr.; and two sisters, Florence Farmer Bowlin and Lillian Farmer Freeman. 
 
A memorial service will be held at the Snow Lake Volunteer Fire Department at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 26, 2020.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Snow Lake Volunteer Fire Department.

Ms. Carol I am so sorry I have just found out that Flake passed. I was in a car accident and Was under the weather for quiet a while. I’m so sorry I was not able to see him before he met Jesus. He was such a special person. Prayers for you and your family.
