Floy Lorraine Russom Ash, of Potts Camp, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2021, with her family by her side, in Petal, Mississippi. Floy was born on August 15, 1930, near Holly Springs, Mississippi, the daughter of John V Russom Sr. and Ruth Garner Russom. Floy was a member of Temperance Hill Baptist Chruch, Potts Camp, and a former member of the Potts Camp First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Floy graduated from Holly Springs High School. After attending business classes, she was employed with Merrill Lynch stock brokers in Memphis, Tennessee. She left what was sure to be a promising career and moved to Potts Camp to be a wife and a mother to her three children. After raising her children, she returned to cosmetology school and opened a beauty shop and tanning salon with her daughter-in-law in Potts Camp.
Mrs. Floy enjoyed working in her home, the Boatner Place, built in 1907, named for Dr. Frank P. Boatner. Most of all, she wanted her home to be a place for her children and grandchildren to come and visit, especially on the holidays, when she loved to cook and put together delicious meals for her family.
Visitation will be held at the Potts Camp First Baptist Church on Monday, April 5, 2021, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Graveside services will follow, after the visitation, at the Potts Camp Cemetery.
Brother Charles Fowler is officiating. Holly Springs Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She leaves her daughter, Liesa Weaver (Mike) of Petal; a son, Jesse Ash Jr. (Bobbie Anna), of Potts Camp; five grandchildren, Ashley McAlexander, Anna Beth Scott (Kevin), Trey Ash, Austin Watts (Tiffany), Evan Watts (Kristen), and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a little brother, Samuel Russom, her parents, her brothers John Russom Jr. and Robert Russon, and a daughter, Donna Ruth Watts.
Pallbearers will be Ashley McAlexander, Trey Ash, Austin Watts, Evan Watts, Kevin Scott, and Tristen McAlexander. |
