Dear Wilburn family,
We met Rex on the Walk to Emmaus and even had an opportunity to serve with him several times. He always had a smile on his face and enjoyed all the fun that occurred on the Walk. Yet, he always gave the true message of Christ and His great love for us. He was always eager to help and counsel those who had questions. What a wonderful servant of the Lord's!! Our prayers are with you all. May we all serve the Lord well until we meet again. DeColores!

I Have known Rex since the fourth grade. He always was one of the kindest and most authentic persons I knew. He loved the Memphis Tigers (GTG). He loved a good conversation over a good meal. Most of all he loved his family and his Faith. He was not known for using an economy of words but did use them to great effect and great purpose. I will miss his countenance and his counsel and pray his family takes comfort and pride in what he meant and did for so many people in his path.

I am going to miss Rex as his humor has helped me get through some tough times. I know what it means to lose loved ones. But be happy and glad that he is in no pain and is with Jesus. Now I pray that you can feel the loving arms of God surrounding you. Just lean on Gods love.

OLE REX WAS ONE OF THE BEST FRIENDS I EVER HAD. HE CAME TO BETHEL METHODIST, BELIEVE HIS FIRST CHURCH. MY PARENTS BECAME VERY CLOSE TO REX AND PAM AND FAMILY. I WAS COACHING IN FLORIDA AND MET HIM ON A VISIT. WE WERE IMMEDIATE FRIENDS AND EVERY TIME I WOULD COME BACK TO MISSISSIPPI MEET REX AND WE WOULD PLAY GOLF AND HAVE DINNER. THIS CONTINUED AFTER WE RETIRED AND WE MOVED TO THE NC MOUNTAINS. REX AND PAM SPENT SEVERAL DAYS WITH US SEVERAL YEARS AGO. MY WIFE, KAREN PASSED AWAY AFTER A TWO AND HALF YEAR BATTLE WITH CANCER AND REX WAS ON THE PHONE AND EMAIL WITH ME OFTEN HELPING ME GET THROUGH THIS. THE MISSISSIPPI METHODIST CHURCH HAS LOST A MIGHTY WARRIOR, BUT HEAVEN HAS GAINED A MIGHTY GOOD NEW MEMBER. REST IN PEACE MY GOOD OLE BUDDY. CYCLONE BRETT

Rex was a good friend. We served as pastors together in Chickasaw County and I attended his Wednesday morning Bible Study, and filled in for him when he was out. I was an Asst. Spiritual Director under Rex at a very memorable Emmaeus walk. He would always get a call from me around end of year reporting time. He was always very helpful. He will be missed so much. He was a good friend.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your husband and father. Bro. Rex was such a kind man who was full of so much joy and life when around him. I don't remember a time during my childhood when Bro. Rex was not a part of the Bruce community. To have known him was to love him and be impacted by him for the better. The world has lost a beautiful man with a wonderful soul. Praying for healing and comfort for your family.
