Sara Catherine Moore Wiliams

Sara Catherine Moore Williams, of Starkville, Mississippi, passed away on November 19, 2023, at age 95.  She was born on August 1, 1928, in Hudsonville, to John Roger and Lena Dean McAlexander Moore.  A devoted wife and mother, Sara's greatest joy came from time with family.  She was married to Glen Williams for fifty eight years, until his passing, and together they raised four children.  Sara was a gifted homemaker and teacher, with a heart for service that extended to all that she knew.  She loved reading, music, decorating, finding bargains, and visiting with family and friends. Her dishes were a favorite at any  gathering, and her house was always the welcome destination for siblings and many nieces and nephews.  Sara was a longtime member at First Baptist Church in Holly Springs, and treasured the friendships in her Sunday School class.

Sara graduated from Slayden High School at age fifteen.  After graduation, she attended business school in Memphis, and then returned to Marshall County where she met her future husband.  Together, they raised a family with moves across the Southeast, before buying a farm and calling Potts Camp home.

Sara is survived by her daughter, Ann Young (Lloyd) of Eupora, sons Ed Williams (Nancy) of Starkville, Dr David Williams (Cindy) of Oxford, and Mark Williams (Melanie) of Birmingham, Alabama, and by granddaughters Katie Sunrall (Sean), Ellen Haas (Ernest), Laura Ryals (Christopher), Christina Maharrey (Dr Blake), Andrea Parham (David), and Anna Katherine Williams, and grandsons Clint Young (Stephanie), Stuart Williams, Ben Williams, John Mark Williams, and ten great grandchildren.

Sara is predeceased by her husband, Glen Williams, four brothers, John Roger Moore, Boyd Eugene "Sport" Moore, Ferrell Moore, James Clyde "Jimmy" Moore, a sister, Minnie Irene "Bunny" Moore Tomlinson, her parents John Roger and Lena Dean McAlexander Moore, and a grandson, Austin Williams.

Funeral services will be held at the Holly Springs Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 2:00 pm.  A visitation will be held from 12:00, noon, until service time.  Interment will be at Hill Crest Cemetery.
