Betty Woodlane Shaeffer

Betty Woodlane Shaeffer, 90, of Lake Center, passed away on December 26, 2021, at Alliance Healthcare.  Mrs Shaeffer was born on October 19, 1931, in Perry, Tennessee, to Woodrow Burns and Rosa Maye Goins Burns, and attended school in Hickman, Tennessee. 

Betty was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother who enjoyed church and Bible study, gardening, and was an avid book reader who loved romance novels.  She was a longtime member of the Holly Springs Church of Christ, and Christmas was her favorite holiday.  Betty spent time as a candy striper at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, and was a bookkeeper as a young lady.  She became a stay-at-home mom after the birth of her two sons, Mark and Scott.

Betty is survived by a son, Scott Shaeffer and wife Melissa, and grandchildren Hunter and Riley; granddaughter Jan Oswalt and husband Angus, and great granddaughters Mallorie, Marlee, and Melody; daughter in law Janie Hemme and husband Jamie; sister in law Shirley Burns, nephew Zane Burns Jr, and wife Kristi, and many other friends and family members.  She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Hooper, her mother Rosa Maye Burns (Mama B) and her father Woodrow Burns (Daddy B).

A visitation will be held at the Holly Springs Funeral Home on Thursday, December 30, from 12:30 until 1:30 pm.  Graveside services will be at Potts Camp Cemetery, at 2:00 pm. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Holly Springs Church of Christ, 1557 MS Highway 4, Holly Springs, MS  38635.  The Family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Christopher's Manor in Holly Springs for loving her and taking such good care of her for the last two years.
