Bonnie Sue Valentine Cunningham Keith

Bonnie Sue Valentine Cunningham Keith "Boo-Boo or Granny Boo-Boo", 75, passed away at her home in Mt Pleasant on August 29, 2022.

On September 3, 1946, another Valentine was born in Slayden, Mississippi, Bonnie Sue Valentine.  She was not only the first little girl born into the family, she was a happy, fun loving, hard headed little girl, full of life, as she ran the hills and valleys of the small town of Slayden.  She grew up to be a nice, sweet, and loving young lady.  Bonnie was taught at a young age to play the piano by Mrs Vivian Mackey of Slayden, and these piano lessons would prove to shape the rest of her life.

At the young age of thirteen, she was asked by Pastor Bro. King to play at a small church building in Mt Pleasant for Worship Service.  She was then hooked, as most of you know, and God had a Plan.  Her Love in Life and Service to God was to play the piano or organ, and boy could she play them!   Her goal in life was to raise a loving family, to work hard, and to play the piano at her local church.

She was a graduate of Slayden High School and Northwest Community College.  She played most of her life at Mt Pleasant Baptist Church, Carey Chapel Baptist Church, and on occasion, filling in at several other churches if needed.  She worked for sixteen years as a Secretary in the Business Office at St Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

She enjoyed spending time with her loving husband, Paul, gardening and gathering vegetables, watching and feeding hummingbirds, crocheting, watching kids and grandkids play ball, taking care of her dog, Princess, and spilling the tea (talking) with her sister, Linda.  She was committed, in life, to be faithful to God, her family, and the church. The boys, Jason and Jacob, and her six grandchildren were the Joys of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, W K and Mary Sue Valentine, and husband Henry D Cunningham.  She is survived by her husband, Paul J Keith, her two sons, Dr Jason Cunningham (Marti Cunningham), and Dr Jacob Cunningham (Dr Deborah Cunningham) and six grandchildren, Baillie, Kaitlyn, Justin, Ashley, Allison, and Emma Cunningham.  She also leaves two brothers, Clifton Valentine (Norma), and William Valentine (Norma), and one sister, Linda Bowling (Dr Allan Bruce), and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services for Mrs Keith will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 11:00 am, at Carey Chapel Baptist Church.  A visitation for family and friends will begin at 9:00 am and continue until service time. Burial will be in Mt Pleasant Cemetery.  The Holly Springs Funeral Home has charge.
