Boyd Eugene Moore

Boyd Eugene "Sport" Moore, 98, of Holly Springs, passed away April 6, 2023, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford. He was a member of the Hudsonville Presbyterian Church and retired from Life of Georgia Insurance Company.  He was the owner of Holly Springs Marble Works for several years, and was a life-long cattleman. Mr Moore was a dedicated member of the VFW, and served in the United States Army during WW II.  He was born May 16, 1924, to John Roger Moore and Lena McAlexander Moore in Hudsonville. 

Mr. Moore is survived by four daughters, Kay Hurdle (Jakey) of Holly Springs, Jean Courson of Iuka, Judy Daniels(Gary) of Huntsville, Alabana, and Jerri Moore (Frank Schmidt) of Mountain Home, Arkansas. He also leaves a sister, Sara Williams of Starkville, seven grandchildren, Scott Seale (Lisa, dec.), Michael Seale (Vicky), Emily Bell (Craig), Kelly Daniels, Ken Daniels (Haven), Angela Crowe (Chad) and Derrick Schmidt, nine great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Moore, three brothers, John Roger Moore, Ferrell Moore, and Jimmy Moore, a sister, Bunnie Tomlinson, and a granddaughter, Brooklynn Hope Hall.

Graveside ervices will be held April 11, 2023, at 2:00 pm, at Hill Crest Cemetery,  Pall bearers will be Scott Seale, Michael Seale, Nathan Seale, Kelly Daniels, Ken Daniels and Jim Moore. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to First Presbyterian Church (164 South Memphis Street, Holly Springs, Mississippi, 38635).The Holly Springs Funeral Home has charge.
