John Loyd Nelson, 86, of Byhalia, passed away at the Memphis VA Medical Center on August 13, 2023. He was born in Potts Camp on September 28, 1936, to George Whitfield Nelson and Maggie Taylor Nelson. Mr Nelson was a truck driver and a United States Air Force Veteran.
Mr Nelson is survived by his wife, Joy Nelson, a daughter, Kari Ferguson (Thomas), and a granddaughter, Evelyn "Evie" Ferguson. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lynn Nelson and James Nelson, and six sisters, Mary Lois Gurley, Thelma Childers, Hazel Ferrell, Juanita Naquin, Sue Butterworth Seitz and Laverne Provost.
Services for Mr Nelson will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 11:00 am, at Emory Methodist Church. A visitation will begin at 10:00 am and continue until service time. Burial will be at Emory Cemetery. The Holly Springs Funeral Home has charge. |
